A cooling breeze made some difference in tempering a very warm summers afternoon at Kooyong.

The opening match saw Marin Cilic tested in the second set by rising Korean talent Soonwoo Kwon. The 31-year-old Croatian prevailed 6-2 4-6 10-8.

World number eight Matteo Berrettini equaled Maria Sharapova’s Point Bank streak of nine winning points, then exceeded it with 14 in succession over Australian Marc Polmans.

This takes AgBioEn’s donation to the Salvation Army Bushfire Relief Appeal to $24,000.

Berrettini won 4-6 4-6.

The final match of the day was abandoned due with the onset of a thunderstorm with CoCo Vandeweghe (USA) leading compatriot Jennifer Brady 1-0.

A bumper final day of the 2020 AgBioEn Kooyong Classic awaits as the Day 3 schedule begins at 1:00pm tomorrow:

Nick Kyrgios (AUS) v Grigor Dimitrov (BUL)

Stefanos Tsitsipas (GRE) v Matteo Berrettini (ITA)

Maria Sharapova (RUS) v Ajla Tomljanovic (AUS)
